About Mary Welch Rogers
Mary Welch Rogers was born and raised in the small town of
Trenton, Missouri and received a degree in vocal music education
from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri.
At a young age Mary began performing professionally and as a
teenager worked in summer stock at Kansas City's Starlight
Theater. Her
singing led her to nightclubs throughout the Midwest and then on
to Las Vegas where she appeared for such notables as Rich Little
and Don Rickles. In the spring of 1978 she began to pursue a
longtime interest in song writing which led her to Los Angeles
and a recording contract with 20th Century Fox Records, as well
as a writing contract with 20th Century Fox Music Publishing.
Between nightclub performances, Mary appeared on numerous
television shows including, Johnny Carson, Dinah, Merv Griffin
and Mike Douglas. In 1983 she began singing as a soloist on Dr.
Robert Schuller's Hour of Power and continues to do so today.
Her career kept her on the road constantly until 1984.
It was in l986 Mary decided to devote herself full-time to the
pursuit of her longtime interest in Christian music with the
release of her first Christian album,
HIS LOVE. In the fall of 1997,
in obedience to the urgings of the Spirit, Mary arranged, wrote,
produced and sang her CD,
BENEDICTION. This special project celebrates God's
Eucharistic presence through the combination of ancient and
modern music.
Mary was also inspired to write a song honoring Mother Teresa,
IN JESUS NAME.
This single was released in February of 1998. All profits from
its sale will be donated to Mother Teresa's Missionaries of
Charity.
Mary is dedicated to the development of Catholic music and the
artists and musicians who record and write for the Catholic
audience. Today, she continues to write, record and perform
Christian music. Mary believes it is her mission to introduce
her own Catholic church to the music of the many Christian
artists who are already ministering to the body of Christ and,
at the same time, work towards the unity of all Christians
through the sharing of music in all denominations and cultures.
